PMC “Wagner” has already recruited almost 6,000 Russian convicts to participate in the war against Ukraine and began to take those who were initially “screened out”. This is reported by the Russian edition “Important Stories“, referring to its own count.

Since July, the editors of Important Stories have been counting how many convicts the Wagner PMC has recruited to participate in the war. Result: in 37 Russian colonies, the PMC recruited at least 5786 people, they agreed to go to war. Of these, according to the publication, at least 2036 people were taken out.
Olga Romanova, head of the Russian human rights project Sitting Russia, believes that in fact there are twice as many recruits – 11,000, and about 3,000 have already left.
According to the source of “Rus Sitting”, after the recruitment of Yevgeny Prigozhin filmed on video, about 130 prisoners wanted to join the Wagner PMC. In the Mari penal colony No. 4, where recruiters also came, there were about 200 applicants.
According to the publication, recruiters began to come to some colonies again. The head of Russia Sedentary, Olga Romanova, says that people were taken out of Fornosovo (Leningrad region) at least twice, and the source of Important Stories in the Yablonevka colony in St. Petersburg claims that prisoners have already been taken away three times.
At the same time, as Russian journalists write, recently convicts who were previously “weeded out” were taken from Yablonevka and told that if now the men do not agree to go for money, then after a while they will still have to go, but for free.
- According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in the Russian Federation they decided to replenish the reserve for the war at the expense of prisons, state-owned enterprises and the removal of restrictions on conscription for large families. They also want to forcibly create regional battalions formed on a national basis.
- On September 14, a video appeared on the network showing how “Putin’s cook” Yevgeny Prigozhin, who is considered the owner of the PMC “Wagner”, personally recruits prisoners to participate in the war against Ukraine.
- Today, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the invaders set up a training camp at the training ground near Torez, Donetsk region, to train personnel who arrived from places of deprivation of liberty.
