Russian Ambassador to Paris Aleksey Meshkov recalled that on May 8, France traditionally hosts events dedicated to the victory in World War II, and that “ambassadors and military attaches – first of the Soviet Union, then Russia, Belarus as countries that made a decisive contribution to the victory over fascism , were invited.
“This year we did not find a place on the podium,” the ambassador complained.
At the same time, he said, a place on the podium was found for the ambassadors of those countries “which fought on the side of Nazi Germany.”
