The occupier has been leading the servicemen of the National Guard and representatives of illegal armed groups of the Russian Federation since March on the territory of the temporarily occupied Kherson region.
According to the investigation, in April 2022, on his instructions, the occupiers used physical and psychological torture on two detained local residents in order to obtain information from them about their involvement in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the locations of Ukrainian defenders and defense forces.
For several days, the men were held in the seized administrative building of the police in the Kherson region, as well as in the local pre-trial detention center, where they were systematically beaten with batons, threatened with death and used electric current.
At the same time, the Russian military tried to persuade the prisoners to cooperate by offering them positions in pseudo-law enforcement agencies.
Under the procedural leadership of the Kherson regional prosecutor’s office, the colonel of the National Guard was informed in absentia of suspicion of ill-treatment of prisoners of war (part 1 of article 438 of the Criminal Code).
