The Russian military leadership set the occupiers the task of capturing Bakhmut in the Donetsk region by the end of October. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Defense Anna Painter in an interview with the media platform We are Ukraine.

According to Malyar, the situation in eastern Ukraine is now “different”, but the epicenter of the heaviest fighting is taking place there, especially in Bakhmut, where it is “very hard”.
The Deputy Minister of Defense stressed that in some areas in the east the Armed Forces of Ukraine are advancing, but in the Donetsk region, the Russians continue to advance.
“The Russians have set their troops – for the fifth time since the start of a full-scale invasion – a deadline when they must fully reach the administrative border of the Donetsk region. Now they have a plan that they must completely occupy Bakhmut by the end of this month,” Malyar said.
She noted that now “very heavy” battles are taking place there, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine hold the line and do not allow the invaders to advance – they are on the outskirts of Bakhmut, but they cannot go further.
- On October 14, the speaker of the Eastern Group of Forces noted that Bakhmutskoye remains the most difficult direction on the front, especially the village of Ivangrad – the invaders are “madly attacking” there.
- President Zelensky has repeatedly said in recent video messages that the Bakhmut direction is the most difficult for Ukrainian troops, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding their positions.
