Searches in the churches of the UOC MP: the SBU found pro-Russian literature, millions of cash and “dubious” citizens of the Russian Federation

Searches were conducted in the territories of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in Kyiv, the Koretsky Holy Trinity Monastery and the premises of the Sarnensko-Polyska Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Rivne region.

During the inspection of various premises of the UOC (MP), the security service found pro-Russian literature and cash worth several million hryvnias. “Suspicious” Russian citizens were also found.

This was reported by the SBU press center on Wednesday, November 23.

Counter-intelligence activities were carried out on the territories of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in Kyiv, the Koretsky Holy Trinity Monastery and in the premises of the Sarnensko-Polyska Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Rivne region.

The Security Service of Ukraine, the National Police and the National Guard checked more than 350 church buildings and 850 people. Of these, 50 citizens underwent in-depth interviews, in particular with the use of a polygraph. In addition to Ukrainians, among them were also citizens of other countries, including Russia.

During the document check, some of them provided passports and military ID cards of the USSR, some did not have original documents, but only their copies, or they had passports of Ukrainian citizens with signs of forgery or damage.

The SBU reported that there was a 32-year-old citizen of Ukraine on the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, who is suspected of involvement in the pro-Russian information agency Antvan.

The man is a trustee of the owner of the Russian company ANTVAN GROUP of the same name – Russian citizen A.V. Orlov, who owned a number of land plots and public catering establishments in Ukraine. Currently, this property has been seized as part of criminal proceedings.

During the searches, law enforcement officers found:

  • pro-Russian literature used during studies in seminaries and parish schools, including for propaganda of the “Russian world”;

  • cash in the total amount of more than 2 million hryvnias, more than 100 thousand dollars and several thousand Russian rubles.

We will remind, the day before it was reported that the SBU is conducting an inspection in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

Earlier, the SBU found that in one of the regions, the metropolitan of the UOC MP was working for Russia.
