The Prague office of the Stalker 2 developers was damaged by fire / GSC photo
Disturbing news came from the Czech Republic. As informs local game portal Vortex, in the Prague office of the GSC Game World studio, which is currently the headquarters, there was a fire on the night of September 7-8.
It is mentioned that the cause of the fire was a faulty wiring. The fire damaged one of the three floors occupied by the authors of STALKER 2. And it was on this floor that servers with backup data were located.
Fortunately, there were no casualties during the fire – everyone who was in the building managed to evacuate. The damage is preliminarily estimated at 1.5 million crowns.
We will remind that part of the employees of the Kyiv studio GSC relocated to Prague after the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia in February 2022 and continued the development of STALKER2: Heart of Chornobyl. At the same time, some members of the team went to the front.
It is not yet known whether the event will affect the work process on the hotly anticipated shooter. There is no confirmation of this event directly from GSC yet. We will remind that the release of the game was not so long ago postponed from 2023 to the beginning of 2024.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl – basic details
- The action of the new part of the series will take place in the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The game will combine elements of a first-person shooter, horror and an immersive simulator.
- The story will be variable and will have several endings. In the process of passing, gamers have to make decisions that will lead to consequences.
- STALKER 2 will have advanced artificial intelligence and an improved A-Life 2.0 life simulation system. Thanks to it, characters, mutants and animals will interact with each other and with the environment without the participation of the player.
- STALKER 2 is in development for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
