According to the State Bureau of Investigation, the detainee worked as the chief state inspector of one of the customs posts of the Kharkiv customs. After the start of a full-scale Russian invasion and occupation of part of the Kharkov region by the Russian army, he cooperated with the invaders and became the “deputy minister of industry” of the regional occupation administration.
According to the investigation, the detainee actively recruited local residents to go over to the side of the invaders, in particular, he recruited personnel for the occupation customs, organized their training and tested their knowledge of the legislation of the Russian Federation.
After the liberation of Kupyansk, the suspect tried to hide in Kharkov, where he was detained by the SBI officers.
He was informed of suspicion of voluntarily taking a position in illegal authorities and complicity with the aggressor state, if convicted by the court, he faces imprisonment for up to 12 years.
