Two additional IRIS-T systems, which Germany will send to Ukraine by the end of the year, will significantly strengthen Ukrainian air defense this winter.

This was stated by the spokesman of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuriy Ignat, on the air of the telethon on November 14.

“Additional IRIS-T systems will come. As the German ambassador said, they will be delivered by the end of the year. And this is pretty good information for us.” – said Ignat.

He noted that the IRIS-T are the newest systems in service with the Armed Forces. And despite the fact that these systems cannot work against ballistics, they are full-fledged and very powerful complexes.

“That is, two units with a radar, a command post and launchers, which are part of an anti-aircraft missile unit. As they say in the West – a battery, and here – a division. And these two divisions will strengthen one or another direction. It’s an extremely powerful thing.” – emphasized the speaker.

It will be recalled that on November 13 it became known that Germany will send two more IRIS-T systems to Ukraine by the end of the year.

Earlier, the Air Force stated that Ukraine actually received all the promised air defense equipment, but this was not enough.
