The Appellate Chamber of the Higher Anti-Corruption Court reduced the sentence for Dmytro Sus, the former deputy head of the Department for Investigating Particularly Important Cases in the Economic Sector of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, from 9 to 7 years of imprisonment.
Such a decision was made by the AP VAX on September 4, reports the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
“On September 4, 2023, the Appellate Chamber of the Ukrainian State Prosecutor’s Office partially satisfied the appeals of the defense and changed the sentence of the Supreme Court of Ukraine dated January 31, 2023, by which the former deputy head of the Department – the head of the department for the investigation of particularly important cases in the field of economy of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine was sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment”– informs SAP.
The court changed the verdict in the part of finding Sus guilty of committing the crime provided for in Part 3 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely regarding his possession of a part of storage disks. Taking into account the above, the appellate court reduced the sentence and reduced the term of imprisonment from 9 to 7 years. AP VAKS left the additional punishment in the form of deprivation of the right to hold positions in courts, law enforcement agencies, and the bar for a period of three years and with the confiscation of all property belonging to him by right of ownership.
We will remind, the VAKS sentenced the former investigator of the General Prosecutor’s Office Dmytro Sus to 9 years of imprisonment. The SAP prosecutor accuses him of taking possession of property. In particular, during a series of searches, he seized and appropriated: 9,025 dollars and 192,660 UAH; another 8,600 hryvnias; slot machines, furniture and other things at the location of the illegal gambling establishment. Sus allegedly sold slot machines, poker and roulette tables, bar stools, a metal statue of a woman and other items previously seized during searches to the deceased for $10,000.
