The Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down 6 Shahed-136/131 type attack drones and 6 X-101/X-555/X-55 air-launched missiles this night. It is reported Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
So, on the night of September 17, during a Russian air attack, a total of 16 enemy objects were recorded in the sky:
- 6 shock UAVs of the “Shahed-136/131” type – attacked from the south-eastern and southern directions (Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Chauda);
- 10 air-based missiles of the X-101/X-555/X-55 type – launched from 9 Tu-95MS strategic aircraft from the Engels area.
As noted in the Air Force, the main direction of the strike is the south of Odesa. Anti-aircraft defense worked along the route of tracking missiles and UAVs.

In this regard, fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups and other means of destruction were involved in repelling the air attack.
“As a result of combat work by the forces and means of the Air Force, in cooperation with the air defense forces of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, 12 air targets were destroyed: 6 attack UAVs of the “Shahed-136/131” type and 6 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles “, the message emphasizes.
At the same time, it was recorded that enemy missiles hit the territory of a civilian agricultural enterprise in Odesa. The State Emergency Service is working, local military administrations will inform about the consequences.
Also the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council Mykola Lukashuk reported that one of the missiles was shot down over Dnipropetrovsk region.

According to the American Institute for the Study of War, the Armed Forces are expanding the breakthrough in the Russian defense in the south. Russian troops do not have enough manpower to man the entire multi-echelon Russian defense fortification system in southern Ukraine, analysts say.
Under such circumstances, the Russian command is forced to transfer elite units from near Bakhmut to Zaporizhzhia. As analysts note, this indicates a deep concern about the advancement of Ukraine in the west of the Zaporizhzhia region.
