The British champion will not be able to fight Usyk

It is reported BoxingSocial.

According to the boxer’s manager Barry McGuigan, Daniel Dubois was injured in a fight against Kevin Larena from South Africa and was out for six months. Therefore, he will not be able to use the status of mandatory contender for Usyk’s title, which was granted to him by the World Boxing Association.

“Daniel has a torn cruciate ligament in his knee. As soon as we got the news, he was suddenly offered a fight with Usyk, which he can’t do because of the six-month recovery period,” McGuigan said.

Daniel Dubois is the holder of the title of “regular” WBA champion. Oleksandr Usyk holds the title of “super champion” of the association.

The Ukrainian was also ordered to defend the IBF (International Boxing Federation) title against Croatian Filip Hrgovich. Oleksandr Usyk himself intends to meet with the British Tyson Fury in a fight for the title of absolute world champion.

In addition to the WBA and IBF belts, Usyk holds the WBO (World Boxing Organization) title.

Fury is the WBC (World Boxing Council) world champion.
