This is his opinion expressed in an interview with the BBC.
According to Milli, it will be much more difficult for the Defense Forces of Ukraine to maneuver in cold weather. The general admitted that the Ukrainian offensive is progressing more slowly than expected.
“Heavy battles are still going on there. Ukrainians are still confidently advancing,” he emphasized.
General Milley said it was too early to say whether the counteroffensive had failed, but added that Ukraine was “moving very steadily through the Russian front lines.”
“There is some time left, probably about 30-45 days to deal with the weather, so the Ukrainians are not done yet. They have not completed the combat part of what they are trying to achieve. I said at the very beginning of this war that it would be a long, slow, difficult and will lead to great losses, and that is exactly what it is,” the American military commander emphasized.
- At the same time, the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, said that the counteroffensive actions of the Ukrainian military will continue even in cold and wet weather, even if the fight becomes more difficult.
