The court increased the bail for ex-People’s Deputy Martynenko five times. He is suspected of taking a bribe – news from Ukraine, Politics

The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court increased the amount of bail for a former MP suspected of money laundering and receiving illegal benefits Nikolay Martynenko from UAH 4.962 million to UAH 24.7 million. About it informs press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

The court also ordered Martynenko not to leave Ukraine without the appropriate permission of the investigator, prosecutor and court.

Martynenko is suspected of receiving 311,600 euros in July 2014 from the management of the Czech company Skoda JS, which builds and maintains nuclear power plants, for lobbying interests in Ukraine.

At that time, Martynenko headed the Verkhovna Rada committee on the fuel and energy complex and nuclear policy.

In the Czech Republic, six employees of Skoda JS were charged in the same case (the criminal case is at the trial stage).

  • On July 28, NABU informed ex-People’s Deputy Martynenko suspicion in money laundering and taking bribes from the management of Skoda JS.
  • Martynenko appears another criminal case – on the withdrawal of money from the state enterprise “Eastern Mining and Processing Plant” and Energoatom. It was submitted to the court back in 2018, but has not yet been considered.
