The number of victims of the strong earthquake that occurred in Morocco on the night of September 9 is already over a thousand.
It is reported Al Jazeera with reference to the message of state television.
It is known that more than 1,200 residents were injured as a result of the natural disaster. Currently, 721 people are in critical condition.
Also, rescuers are still sorting through the debris and looking for survivors. The number of victims may rise.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies said that the next 48-72 hours will be critical for search and rescue operations and assistance to the victims.
World leaders expressed their condolences to Morocco. In particular, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, wrote on the X social network:
“On behalf of the Ukrainian people and myself, I express my deepest condolences to His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco, to the relatives and friends of the victims of the terrible earthquake in the Marrakesh region. I wish the injured a speedy recovery. Ukraine stands in solidarity with Morocco in this difficult time”.

We will remind, on the night of September 9, Morocco was shaken by a powerful earthquake. Initially, about 300 victims were reported.
Later it became known that more than 600 people died as a result of the earthquake in Morocco.
