About this it is said on the portal of the European Parliament.
“The European Parliament is committed to doing everything possible to continue to put pressure on Russia through legal and political means so that Putin pays a high price for this illegal war and for the international crimes committed against Ukraine and its people,” said MEP Juan Fernando López Aguilar .
It is noted that 531 MEPs voted “for”, 7 were against, and 34 abstained. Thus, the European Parliament approved the decision not to accept passports and other travel documents issued by Russia in the illegally occupied regions of Ukraine and Georgia.
Now the European Commission must consult with EU member states and draw up a list of Russian travel documents, including passports, which should not be accepted. At the same time, those fleeing the war in Ukraine will still be able to enter the EU for humanitarian reasons.
