The hryvnia-to-dollar exchange rate in Kyiv bank exchangers strengthened by 10 kopecks to UAH 40.60/dollar.

According to the UNIAN correspondent, the hryvnia exchange rate against the euro strengthened by 5 kopecks and is 39.45 hryvnias/euro.

American currency can be sold at an average rate of UAH 40.00 per dollar, euros at UAH 38.40 per euro.

Course during the war:

Before the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine, the hryvnia had a floating exchange rate.

As of May 21, the National Bank canceled restrictions on setting the rate at which authorized institutions can sell foreign currency in cash to clients – previously, the relevant rate should not have deviated from the official rate by more than 10%.

On July 21, the National Bank of Ukraine weakened the official exchange rate of the hryvnia by 25% to UAH 36.57/dollar.

In the draft state budget for next year, the Cabinet of Ministers set an average hryvnia rate of 42.2 hryvnias per dollar, and at the end of 2023, officials forecast it at the level of 50 hryvnias per dollar.

The government predicts that in 2023 the dollar exchange rate will reach 50 hryvnias, and the consumer price index will reach 30.6%. According to this forecast, at the beginning of next year, the dollar exchange rate will be 42 hryvnias, and at the end, the hryvnia will depreciate to 50.

On October 6, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank, Serhiy Nikolaychuk, said that the regulator can return to a floating exchange rate, provided the state of the foreign exchange market is balanced.
