Military expert Petro Chernyk believes that Crimea cannot be returned to Ukraine by diplomatic means, the only way to deoccupation is military action.

“War is always a way of deception. I want to remind you about the brilliant Kharkiv operation, which was carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. An operation that, in fact, few people were able to predict and see. Therefore, it is impossible to guess where the real concentration of the attack and the concentration of forces and means will take place,” – said Chernyk for “Espresso”.

The specialist also commented on the issue of the de-occupation of Crimea by Ukraine.

“The main strategic goal for Ukraine is the liberation of all temporarily occupied territories. And I do not believe in any diplomatic agreements on Crimea as such. In general, there is a very false narrative that diplomats are solving something. Diplomats are only intermediaries between the centers of power and those people who they actually make decisions. Crimea can be liberated only by military means,” added Chernyk.

Deoccupation of Crimea: what is known

As reported by UNIAN, illegal elections in the Crimea annexed by Russia took place on September 14, 2014. The aggressor country occupied the peninsula, for eight years the Rashists mocked the civilian population, kidnapped and tortured the Crimean Tatars.

On August 23, 2021, the heads of delegations of more than 40 countries and international organizations launched the “Crimean Platform” in Kyiv. It was formed to end the Russian occupation of the peninsula by peaceful means.

Following the results of the summit, the participants adopted a joint declaration in which an unequivocal assessment of the illegal and aggressive actions of the Russian Federation is given. The declaration fixes the following theses: non-recognition of the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia; an obligation to consider additional political and diplomatic restrictive sanctions against Russia in case of further aggression; unifying the efforts of all participating countries of the platform to strengthen security and stability in the Black Sea region.

On September 17, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, said that it may happen that Ukraine will return Crimea through diplomatic channels.
