The aggressor country plans to increase military spending in 2024 by almost 70% compared to 2023. This conclusion makes CNN based on documents from the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation.

According to the draft budget for 2024 published in the Russian Federation, military spending is planned to increase by 68%.

In the project, the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation allocated 10.77 trillion rubles for the needs of “national defense”. (about $111 billion), which is 6% of GDP.

Russia’s military budget was 3.9% in 2023 and 2.7% in 2021.

The document “Main Directions of Budget, Tax and Customs Tariff Policy for 2024 and for the Planning Period of 2025 and 2026”, which is published on the website of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, also contains plans for the country’s military spending for 2025 and 2026 – they should be drawn up, accordingly, 8.5 trillion rubles. and 7.4 trillion rubles.

Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said today at the International Financial Forum in Moscow that the main priority in drawing up the budget was precisely “the needs of the front.”

For comparison, the planned expenditures of the Russian Federation on the social sector for 2024 are one third less than military ones – only 7.73 trillion rubles.

Published figures overall match the data from a Bloomberg publication dated September 22, which was based on the preliminary draft budget discussed in the government of the aggressor country.
