The American government is preparing to announce the transfer of depleted uranium tank shells to Ukraine.
It is reported CNN with reference to sources in the administration of the US president.
According to journalists, the official statement on the supply of such types of projectiles will be published today.
It is expected that the Armed Forces will start using depleted uranium ammunition after the US hands over Abrams tanks to Ukraine.
Pentagon deputy spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said that the US is confident that the Ukrainian military will use these munitions responsibly.
“I’m not going to preempt any statements that the Pentagon hasn’t already made today, but I will say that these shells are standard for use in tanks that are not only used by the United States, but that we will provide to Ukraine. We have absolute confidence that Ukrainians will use them responsibly, fighting for the return of their sovereign territory.” said Singh.
It will be recalled that Ukraine has already received projectiles with depleted uranium – they were handed over by Great Britain in April.
Earlier it was reported that the USA allocated a new aid package worth 250 million dollars to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
