Due to Russian aggression in Ukraine, 1,189 objects of cultural infrastructure were damaged. Most of all in Donetsk, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Luhansk regions.

“As of December 25, 2022, 1,189 objects of cultural infrastructure were damaged. Almost a third of them – 446 objects were completely destroyed”the message says.

It is reported that the greatest losses and damage to the cultural infrastructure were experienced in the Donetsk, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhya, Sumy and Kherson regions.

“The largest group of cultural infrastructure objects that were damaged or destroyed are club facilities – 47% of the total number of cultural infrastructure facilities that suffered damage”– the message emphasizes.

In general, the following were affected:

  • club establishments – 563 units. (destroyed – 222 units; damaged – 341 units), of which the majority are in the Donetsk (24%), Kharkiv (14%) and Kyiv (10%) regions;

  • libraries – 453 units. (destroyed – 155 units; damaged – 298 units), of which the majority are in the Donetsk (27%), Kyiv (17%) and Mykolaiv (13%) regions;

  • museums and galleries – 63 units. (destroyed – 22 units; damaged – 41 units;), most of which are in Donetsk (37%) and Kharkiv (11%) regions;

  • theaters and philharmonics – 18 units. (destroyed – 9 units; damaged – 9 units) in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv regions. and the city of Kyiv;

  • art education institutions – 92 units. (destroyed – 38 units; damaged – 54 units), most of which are in Donetsk (30%) and Kharkiv (14%) regions.
