The ban on the sale of ballistic missiles by Iran, introduced by the UN Security Council in 2015, was lifted due to the expiration of its validity period.
This was announced by the deputy head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry for political affairs, Bagheri Kani, on the X social network (Twitter).
According to the official, this means that Iran is no longer subject to restrictions in the context of the UN Security Council.
“Effective October 18, 2023, pursuant to UN Security Council Resolution 2231, all restrictions unjustly imposed on ballistic missile activities and their transfer to the Islamic Republic of Iran shall be lifted,” Kani wrote.
He also added that all national or regional sanctions imposed on the basis of this Resolution should be lifted.
As of 18 October 2023, in accordance with UNSCR 2231, all restrictions unjustly imposed on ballistic missile-related activities and transfers to/from the Islamic Republic of Iran terminate; and Iran is no longer subject to any restriction in the context of the #SecurityCouncil.

It will be recalled that in September, Israeli intelligence reported that Tehran plans to transfer short- and long-range missiles to Russia.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, commenting on the information about the possible transfer of ballistic missiles, said that Ukraine and its allies have not yet recorded such cases.
