An outbreak of hepatitis A has been confirmed only in the Vinnytsia region, where there are more than 240 patients. In the rest of the regions, isolated cases are recorded, they are not related to each other.
This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Health on Monday, November 6.
“In the period from October 17 to November 6, 245 cases of hepatitis A were laboratory-confirmed in Vinnytsia. 182 people were admitted to hospitals: 128 (including 24 children) were treated and discharged, another 54 patients remain in medical facilities.” – said in the message.
As of November 6, isolated cases of hepatitis A were also recorded in the following regions:
- Ternopil (1 case),
- Zakarpattia (11 cases),
- Dnipropetrovsk (3 cases),
- Ivano-Frankivsk (12 cases during October).
An epidural investigation and final disinfection were carried out in the cells.
“In general, in the country, according to the results of the epidemiologic investigation of cases of viral hepatitis A, no epidemiological connection between cases of the disease in different regions has been established.” – informed the Ministry of Health.
597 people have already been vaccinated against viral hepatitis A in Vinnytsia, including 549 doctors and 48 contact persons (relatives and relatives of patients with a confirmed diagnosis).
It will be recalled that the outbreak of hepatitis A in Vinnytsia became known about two weeks ago. In the region, schools were closed for quarantine, a state of emergency was introduced, and emergency vaccination was started.
