The Ministry of Health has published step-by-step instructions for actions in the event of a radiation accident

The Ministry of Health has published detailed step-by-step instructions for actions in the event of a radiation accident – the most important thing is to stay indoors or enter it.

This was reported by the department’s press service on Facebook.

«Despite the fact that the terrorist country does not follow any laws and rules of warfare, every Ukrainian should know the basic rules of behavior in the event of an emergency of any nature“, the Ministry of Health explains.

The department reassures that nuclear-strategic facilities are built in such a way as to withstand significant physical damage. In addition, at the level of all regions, the radiation background is monitored daily, this work is performed by the regional control and prevention centers of the Ministry of Health.

«As of August 7, no deviations from the natural background were recorded“, the department emphasizes.

Among the actions that are recommended to be taken during a radiation accident, the following are indicated:

  • stay indoors or enter it urgently;
  • remove the top layer of clothing, put on a new one;
  • take a shower;
  • do not use tap water for drinking and cooking;
  • follow official sources of information.

“The main thing is to stay indoors or enter it urgently if you are outside. This is the safest course of action that must be taken.”– draw attention in the message.

The ministry also reminds that taking potassium iodide for “prophylaxis” unnecessarily is unacceptable, as it can harm health.

Iodine prophylaxis is carried out once and only when it is indicated by the authorities, that is, the use of iodine now makes no sense.

It will be recalled that on August 5, Russian troops shelled Energodar, which was occupied by them. The absence of electricity, water supply and Internet was recorded in most areas of the city. Three shells fell on the territory of the ZNPP.

Energoatom said that due to the situation at the ZNPP, a nuclear disaster threatens the whole of Europe.
