Residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine are strongly advised not to take Russian passports issued by the occupiers under any circumstances. It is also recommended to leave the occupied territory as soon as possible and go to the lands controlled by Ukraine.
This was stated by the Minister of Reintegration Iryna Vereshchuk in his Telegram.
Vereshchuk reminded that the war with Russia will last much longer than Ukrainians expected and will be much bloodier than one could have imagined. However, this is not an excuse to take Russian papers, but an excuse to leave the dangerous territory as soon as possible.
“Many of them now have to make difficult decisions for themselves and their families. There are two main questions. Should we stay under temporary occupation? Should I stay under occupation or take a Russian passport? .. Without delving into legal, political and moral issues, as Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, I advise the following. Move to the controlled area. I know it’s not easy, but you find ways and opportunities. Because, after all, it’s about your safety and the fate of you and your children. Do not take a Russian passport. I know it may not be easy, but in the long run, Russian citizenship will give you more problems than benefits. ” she said.
We will remind, the president of Russia Vladimir Putin signed the decree on the simplified procedure of reception in the Russian citizenship of inhabitants of the Zaporizhia and Kherson areas.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has condemned Putin’s decree to simplify the issuance of Russian passports – it will force residents of Kherson and Zaporozhye regions to change their citizenship. The ministry also reminded that this decree is legally insignificant and has no meaning and significance.
