During the meeting, they discussed “the war in Ukraine and its dramatic consequences, emphasizing the need to join forces to encourage dialogue and find ways that lead to peace,” the Holy See said in a statement.
The statement added that the two representatives also touched on the issue of food security, “with the hope that it will soon be possible to guarantee the export of grain, especially to countries at the highest risk.”
Ahead of Cardinal Zuppi’s mission to China, the press service of the Holy See explained that his visit is another step in the mission initiated by the Pope “to support humanitarian initiatives and look for ways that can lead to a just peace.”
