Investigator Mykola Kharchenko says that the law enforcement officers immediately recognized the sound of the drone. There were three people in the car – a precinct officer in the passenger seat and an operative behind the wheel.
No one saw the drone, but the characteristic sound left no doubt that they were a target. According to the investigator, at first they tried to break away, but quickly realized that it would not be possible to do so.
“It was the operative who made the decision to jump out of the car in seconds. He immediately gave the command to jump out and at that second an explosion rang out. We jumped out a fraction of a second before the drone dropped the grenade. It aimed at the back of the car, and the driver was the last to jump, in fact already in moment of impact,” says Mykola Kharchenko.
It is known that he and his colleagues have contusions.
