The Russian occupiers began to remove the houses they are demolishing in the occupied Mariupol on Yandex maps.

“The Russians began to delete houses on maps. The Russian military destroyed a house in Mariupol on Azovstalska Street, 33. Now it has been demolished. It is still there on the Google map, but in Yandex and in reality it has been deleted, it has ceased to exist. A kid will no longer run around barefoot there and no housewife bakes an apple pie,” – reported the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets.

According to him, it is known that the Russians plan to demolish another thousand houses that were not completely destroyed during the siege.

He emphasized that in order to hide the consequences of their bombings, they are demolishing houses in the historical part of the city, thereby turning the history of Mariupol into a waste that will be thrown away later.

“People from more than 50,000 apartments have lost their roofs over their heads, and now they cook food outside. Winter is ahead, and they only receive promises that everything will be restored. Practice, however, shows something completely different. The humanitarian disaster in the city caused by the Russians proves only one thing — Russia does not bring anything good, it does not save, it kills, it does not help, it takes away, it did not come to improve life, but to take it away. Mariupol is a city where the Russian Federation violated all norms of humanitarian law. And even erasing houses from cards will not help the guilty avoid punishment for the crime,” Lubinets emphasized.

The war in Ukraine: the situation in Mariupol

After the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, the city of Mariupol in Donetsk region was held by the Ukrainian military for a long time. Unable to capture the city with ground forces, the Russians actively used aviation to carry out missile and bomb attacks. After such actions of Russian terrorists, practically not a single house remained undamaged in the city.

Mariupol was under full occupation only after Ukrainian soldiers left the territory of the Azovstal plant – the last cell of resistance to the Russian aggressor. In addition to the military, civilians were also hiding in the basements of the plant, who found shelter there from Russian shelling.

Earlier, UNIAN wrote that in occupied Mariupol, the Russian army began demolishing buildings in the historic center of the city in order to hide the consequences of its bombings.

It is known that for homeless townspeople, the Rashisti build concrete apartments with cracks and no heating.
