President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that the sooner Ukraine wins, the less evil Russia will have time to bring to other regions.

The president said this in an evening video message.

He said that today he held a meeting with representatives of the Jewish community – American, European and, of course, Israeli.

According to Zelenskyi, during the meeting they discussed, first of all, the protection of Ukrainians, the need to make Russian terror impossible and to end this war as soon as possible by guaranteeing full security and freedom for all Ukrainians throughout the territory of Ukraine.

“The sooner peace is achieved on our land thanks to the Ukrainian victory, the less evil Russia will have time to bring to other regions, in particular to the Middle East in its partnership with Iran. I believe that one day Israeli politicians will hear this position, as Israeli society has already heard – we we feel it,” the head of state added.

Zelenskyi also emphasized that despite the war, Ukraine should continue to implement programs that restore historical justice.

“We have started the implementation of an important project commemorating the victims of Nazism – the construction of a memorial in Babi Yar. We will definitely finish it,” he emphasized.

In particular, Zelensky called on the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, to facilitate the recognition by the German parliament – the Bundestag – of Stalin’s Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people.

Recognition of the Holodomor as genocide: the situation in Germany

In May 2019, a petition published on the website of the Bundestag to recognize the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people received more than 50,000 votes.

In October of the same year, German deputies considered a petition to recognize the Holodomor as genocide. Then a member of the Petitions Committee of the Bundestag, a deputy from the pro-government CDU party, Arnold Faatz, said that the German Foreign Ministry advocated rejecting the petition to recognize the Holodomor as genocide. The agency substantiates this, in particular, by the fact that the concept of genocide was not defined until 1951.

According to the conclusions of comprehensive examinations, 15.5 million Ukrainians became victims of the Holodomor and mass artificial terrors.
