In Ukraine, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, more than 9,600 civilians have already died, and more than 17,500 people have been injured.
This is stated in new report Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
The relevant data includes recorded cases of civilian deaths and injuries in Ukraine due to hostilities following the large-scale invasion of the Russian Federation from February 24, 2022, and as of September 10, 2023.
As noted, during this period, OHCHR recorded 27,149 victims among the country’s civilian population:
- 9614 were killed,
- 17,535 were injured.
In the first ten days of September, the number of casualties among the civilian population in Ukraine, according to the UN, amounted to 292 people. Including:
- 55 were killed (29 men, 21 women, 1 girl, as well as 4 adults, whose gender is still unknown),
- and 237 were injured (101 men, 77 women, 7 boys, 2 girls, as well as 50 adults, whose gender is unknown).
At the same time, the UN notes that the actual figures are much higher, as “receiving information from some places where intense hostilities are taking place is delayed, and many reports are still awaiting confirmation.”
It will be recalled that on the morning of September 8, Russian troops launched a missile attack on Kryvyi Rih. The administrative building was hit, a policeman was killed. Rescue workers and civilians were also injured. Their number has increased to 74.
Also, during the day of Saturday, September 9, Russian invaders killed three civilians in Donetsk region.
