White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre responded to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s condition that his country would agree to transfer Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine if Washington supplies Abrams.

“The President believes that each country should make its own sovereign decision regarding what security assistance and what types of equipment they are ready to provide to Ukraine,” she emphasized during briefing.

Jean-Pierre noted that the United States welcomes the decision of Germany and Britain to provide military equipment and weapons. According to her, the “solidarity of nations” in supporting Ukraine is obvious. However, “this is the decision of each country.”

At the same time, the spokeswoman of the White House added that the USA is the “largest supplier” of security and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
