The United States will provide Ukraine with $125 million to restore the power grid after the strikes of the Russian Federation

It informs AR with reference to the statement of the head of the United States International Development Assistance (USAID) Samantha Power.

Samantha Power announced the funding during a meeting with the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska.

The US Agency for International Development plans to use $125 million to purchase backup electricity for Kyiv’s water and heat supply systems. With these funds, stocks of gas turbines, transformers and other necessary energy equipment will also be replenished.

The money reportedly comes from additional funding for Ukraine approved by Congress in December 2022.

Since October, the Russian army has intensified its attacks on the electrical and critical infrastructures of Ukraine.

Earlier, USAID delivered 1,415 generators to provide heating and lighting in schools, hospitals and other places throughout Ukraine. The US Agency also invested $55 million in the Ukrainian heating infrastructure.
