The USA handed Ukraine the first two NASAMS anti-aircraft missile complexes – a medium-range air defense system.

This was stated by the general director of Raytheon Technologies, which manufactures them, Greg Geiss in an interview with the TV channel CNBC.

As noted, the manufacturer Raytheon Technologies handed over two NASAMS air defense systems to the US government, they will soon be deployed in Ukraine.

According to Geis, US authorities have approved the delivery of two NASAMS air defense systems to Kyiv, but not Patriot air defense systems. He noted that negotiations regarding them continue regularly, but the final decision remains with the administration of the US president.

“We just delivered two NASAMS systems. We handed over two of them to the government a few weeks ago. They will be installed in Ukraine. It’s a short-range air defense system that can fire the advanced AIM-120 medium-range air-to-air missile and shoot down everything in the sky, from drones to ballistic missiles and fighter jets.”– noted Geis.

As noted by the media, NASAMS will provide protection against Russian attacks at medium and long range. Earlier, Hayes reported that the demand for NASAMS has been increasing since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

We will remind, on October 17, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, announced that soon Ukraine will receive the first NASAMS air defense systems.

Earlier we reported that the USA will transfer up to 16 NASAMS launchers to Ukraine.

“Word and Deed” compared the IRIS-T and NASAMS air defense systems, which were promised to be transferred to Ukraine.
