The World Boxing Association (WBA) rejected an appeal filed by the promotion company Queensberry Promotions regarding the result of the fight between the British Daniel Dubois and the WBA, WBO and IBF world champion in super-heavyweight Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk.
It is reported SPORT.UA.
We will remind, on the night of August 26-27, Oleksandr Usyk defended his titles in a confrontation against “regular” WBA champion Daniel Dubois.
An independent commission checked the fight for violations by the referee Luis Pabon and ultimately decided to uphold the result of the fight for the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles, which took place on August 26 in Wroclaw (Poland).
“After a thorough study of the appeal materials, all documents and evidence provided by both the appellant and the defendant, the committee decided that the appellant’s evidence is insufficient to overturn the result of the Usyk-Dubois match. Therefore, the fight decision will not be overturned.
The committee concluded that none of the videotapes presented provided conclusive evidence that the referee’s decision to strike below the waist was incorrect.
The Committee also concluded that the original decision to strike below the belt should stand as there was no necessary evidence to the contrary,” the WBA report said.
