“Currently, we are observing an increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 in Ukraine. We predict that the peak of transmission may fall on the beginning of October, and hospitals may approach the threshold of their capacity.”– said Gebreyesus.

“A shortage of oxygen is predicted, as the main sources of supply are in the occupied parts of the country”he added.

In addition, according to Ghebreyesus, the WHO is concerned about the possibility of international spread of poliomyelitis due to gaps in immunization coverage and mass population movements associated with war.

We will remind, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine also warned about the beginning of the fall wave of coronavirus.

According to the Center for Public Health, from August 29 to September 4, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ukraine increased by another 41%.
