During the investigation, approximately 30 meters from the embassy, ​​police officers found a small metal object with a certain amount of pyrotechnic material, which was detonated. The police reported that the explosion did not cause any injuries.

Later, the police found two men who were near the scene of the incident, acting suspiciously and walking towards a nearby car. In the car, the police found two more men who had two knives and a hammer. The police arrested the 21-year-old owner of the car on charges of possession of a weapon and stabbing.

A 17-year-old, a 20-year-old and two 21-year-old boys were also detained in the car, who were taken to the investigation department and are currently being interrogated by the criminal investigation authorities of Nicosia.

The police of Nicosia actively started a comprehensive investigation of this incident, in particular, they closed off the area where the explosion occurred and are conducting examinations to determine the nature and origin of the explosive device.
