Trucks jam near one more checkpoint on Ukraine-Poland border as drivers seek to bypass Polish carriers’ blockade – Demchenko

Date:

There is a congestion of trucks near one more checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Polish border as drivers choose different directions due to a blockade organized by Polish carriers, there were 1,100 vehicles near the Shehyni checkpoint in the morning, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko has said.

As of the morning of Tuesday, there was still a queue near three checkpoints blocked by Polish carriers, Yahodyn-Dorohusk, Rava-Ruska-Hrebenne, and Krakovets-Korczowa, he said on the air of the national telethon.

The largest number of 1,300 trucks was recorded at the Yahodyn checkpoint, and 500 trucks at each Krakovets and Rava-Ruska.

“Of course, because of actions of the Polish carriers, the drivers choose other directions, therefore we can see a congestion of trucks near one more border crossing point. On the Polish side. They are waiting on the Polish side to cross the border and enter Ukraine. It is the Shehyni checkpoint. There were 1,100 vehicles there as of this morning, and they were slowly but still moving towards Ukraine,” Demchenko said.

Over the past day, around 300 trucks entered Ukraine through the Shehyni checkpoint, he said.

As reported, on November 6, Polish carriers started the blockade of freight transport traffic at three Ukrainian-Polish border crossing points: Yahodyn-Dorohusk, Rava-Ruska-Hrebenne, and Krakovets-Korczowa.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasyl Zvarych said the blockade by Polish carriers was a “painful stab in the back of Ukraine” which jeopardizes the corridors of solidarity through which Ukraine transports its grain to third countries.
