“In terms of NASAMS delivery times, we expect that to happen within the next two to three months,” he said.
More time is needed than for other weapons, because NASAMS do not come from US stocks, but must be produced and purchased for Ukraine.
Ukraine should receive two batteries of NASAMS air defense systems.
The NASAMS system is produced by a consortium of the American corporation Raytheon Technologies and the Norwegian group Kongsberg. Raytheon is responsible for supplying the AIM-120 AMRAAM medium-range air-to-air missiles for the system, while Kongsberg is supplying the launchers.
REFERENCE. The battery of the second generation NASAMS anti-aircraft missile system consists of 12 launchers (each carrying six AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles), eight radars, one fire control center, one electron-optical camera vehicle and one Tactical Control Cell vehicle.
