Ukraine will unblock restrictions on coal exports to Poland, – Shmyhal

About this reports Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

In September, at the request of the Polish side, Ukraine will export 100,000 tons of coal.

Ukrainian coal warehouses now have almost 2 million tons. This is 2.5 times more than in September 2021.

Reconstruction of the power transmission line from the Khmelnytskyi NPP to the substation in Rzeszów, Poland, is also underway. Repair works will continue until December 2022. This will allow exporting electricity up to 1000 MW.

  • On June 25, the media reported that this year Poland and Ukraine will increase coal production in preparation for the cold months. Meanwhile, Poland, which uses coal for about 70% of its electricity generation, also introduced measures earlier this month that will subsidize coal for households using the fuel for heating in a bid to cushion soaring prices
