In the text of the message, the SBU called the suspected leaders of the structural unit of the Southern Railway in the Kharkiv region “former”, although in the headline they are called “officials of Ukrzaliznytsia.”
The department noted that during the occupation of the region, they led the strategically important railway junction in Kupyansk, through which the invaders exported Ukrainian grain.
In addition, the collaborators controlled the movement of Russian echelons with military equipment and ammunition for combat operations against the Defense Forces in the eastern direction, the SBU reported.
The occupiers appointed one of them as the “head of the railway operation service” of Kupyansk, and the other as his deputy. In these “positions”, according to the investigation, the collaborators helped the enemy to maintain railway communication with the aggressor country, and also monitored the effective use of rolling stock in the interests of the occupiers.
After the liberation of the city, the SBU officers detained one of the defendants, the other fled to the Russian Federation at the beginning of the de-occupation, where he is now hiding from justice. The issue of putting him on the wanted list is being resolved.
SBU investigators informed both malefactors of suspicion of collaborative activities.
