Seventeen US politicians believe that “Ukraine could better counter Russian threats” if it had drones like the MQ-1C Gray Eagle or the MQ-9A Reaper. In their opinion, such UAVs “will provide continuous surveillance and accurate tracking, as well as targeting at long distances,” which is absolutely necessary to counter Russian missile systems.
Ukraine did request MQ-1C Gray Eagle drones from the United States, Brigadier General Pat Ryder, a Pentagon spokesman, told reporters, but the request is still being analyzed and no decision has been made on it.
In the letter, lawmakers ask the Pentagon not to delay a decision on the results of such an analysis.
