A group of Beatles fans is looking for a bass guitar once played by Paul McCartney. On this instrument, he performed compositions such as Twist and Shout, Love Me Do and She Loves You.

The musician purchased this Höfner 500/1 electric bass in 1961 in Hamburg for about $37.
“This is the bass that McCartney played… in Hamburg in 1961, at the Cavern Club in Liverpool and on those first Abbey Road recordings – it powered ‘Beatlemania’ and shaped the sound of the modern world,” said members of The Lost Bass Project. which launched the search.
The guitar was last seen in 1969, when The Beatles recorded the Get Back/Let It Be project. Since then she has disappeared.
