The Verkhovna Rada registered a draft law proposing to remove the postponement of mobilization for students. We are talking about men who are getting a second or third education.
Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense and intelligence, and a member of the Servant of the People faction, noted that currently about 60,000 men have decided to get additional education in order to avoid mobilization.
According to him, since they cannot draft men over the age of 25 who are studying in educational institutions on a full-time and dual basis, they want to change the rules for men 30+.
Venislavsky cited statistics that in 2019-2021 there were about 40,000 students aged 25 and older. However, in 2022, their number suddenly increased to 106,000 and there will be the same number this year. At the same time, part of the entrants entered a lower educational level than they had (for vocational and technical education with an existing higher education), and for a different specialty.
“I proposed that people who study in successive types of education should have the right to deferment. And those who entered the second, third, or fourth higher education after 30 years could not use such a right to deferment,” Venislavsky emphasized.
He claims that after its adoption, the effect of this document will extend to men who took advantage of the training to evade mobilization in 2022.
Postponement of mobilization for students
The NSDC said that the Ministry of Education will decide whether it is appropriate for men fit for military service to obtain a second higher education, which gives them the right to postpone mobilization.
On August 30, Venislavskyi announced that he wanted to cancel the postponement of mobilization for those students who are getting higher education for the second time.
“If a person studies at a master’s degree immediately after graduation, then this is the acquisition of a master’s higher education. If he entered graduate school immediately after his studies, then it is clear. And when a person has a break and only during the war suddenly wanted to engage in scientific activity, then this raises questions “, – he said.
UNIAN previously reported who was granted a reprieve from mobilization in Ukraine.
