President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he does not intend to run for a second term after the end of the war.
He made such a statement in interview Romanian mass media.
Asked by journalists whether he will run for office in the presidential elections, Zelenskyi answered: “If the war continues – yes, if the war ends – no. I can’t run away during the war.”
It should be noted that according to the plan, the presidential elections should be held in the spring of 2024. Zelensky said that if they take place during a full-scale war, he will take part in them.
But the Ukrainian authorities can consider the option of holding elections during the war only if the allies help to organize them.
According to the head of the OPU Andriy Yermak, the States “do not ask Ukraine questions” regarding elections during martial law.
