President Vladimir Zelensky signed a decree on awarding the “National Legend of Ukraine” distinction to football player Andriy Shevchenko, singer Anatoly Solovyanenko and six other citizens who distinguished themselves during the war. This was reported by the press service of the President.

Zelensky said that today, August 21, eight outstanding Ukrainians are receiving awards:
→ footballer Andriy Shevchenko;
→ tenor Anatoly Solovyanenko (posthumously);
→ Conductor Anatoly Babichev, who during the shelling lost his wife, who worked with him in another carriage of the evacuation train, but continued to work;
→ firefighter Igor Ivasikov, who helped rescue 17 people from the rubble of the Nikolaev Regional State Administration;
→ doctors-supurges Olga and Anatoly Svist, who operated on children under shelling in Bucha for two weeks;
→ teacher Anna But from Melitopol;
→ volunteer Tata Kepler.
“A state that respects and appreciates its people cannot be destroyed. Because its citizens, its heroes will always stand up and protect such a state. There have been many such people since the declaration of independence in Ukraine. And with the start of a full-scale war, there have been even more. We are proud of each and every one,” Zelensky commented on the current award ceremony.
