President Volodymyr Zelenskyy decided to change the commander of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The head of state said this in his evening address to the nation.
Instead of Tetyana Ostashchenko, Anatoly Kazmirchuk, Major General of the Medical Service, took this position.
Zelensky clarified that Kazmirchuk was previously the head of the National Military Medical Clinical Center “Main Military Clinical Hospital” in Kyiv.
The President also explained the tasks facing the new commander of the Medical Forces.
“A fundamentally new level of medical care for our soldiers is needed. From high-quality turnstiles to full digitalization and transparency in supply, from high-quality training to sincere communication with combat medics in those units where medicine is deployed really correctly and really effectively. The experience of the effectiveness of specific units should be spread to all Defense Forces.” – said Zelensky.

Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov commented on the replacement of the commander of the Medical Forces on Facebook. According to him, the reasons for such a step are “obvious to everyone who fights in the ranks of the Defense Forces of Ukraine and to everyone who helps.”
“The relevant issue was discussed many times. It’s time to solve the problems of medical care for our soldiers.” – Umerov wrote.
He also identified three steps necessary for the development of the Medical Forces:
- maximum digitization of processes and compliance with all standards of medical care, including the supply of quality medical equipment and medical equipment;
- development of the tactical medicine training system according to NATO standards with appropriate resource support;
- ensuring constant rotation of personnel between the tactical and strategic levels to ensure the acquisition and transfer of experience throughout the cycle of treatment of the wounded, traumatized and sick.
We will remind, a few days ago the mass media reported that the Minister of Defense Rustem Umyerov is preparing a motion to dismiss three commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at once. In addition to Ostanshchenko, the list also included the commander of the operational and strategic group of troops “Tavria” Oleksandr Tarnavskyi and the commander of the United Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Serhiy Naev.
