He noted that during today’s visit of the head of the European Commission, the process of European integration of Ukraine, European support in the defense and financial sectors, sanctions against the Russian Federation, as well as Russian terror against civilians were discussed.
“I informed about the new and especially vile tactics of Russian terrorists – attacks on energy and hydraulic infrastructure. Just during the stay of the President of the European Commission in Ukraine, the Russian army launched a new missile attack on Krivoy Rog, in the Kirovohrad region. In both cases – on hydraulic structures,” Zelensky said.
The head of state said that the purpose of these attacks is quite clear – “these are attacks on people, on the normality of life in Ukraine.”
“The terrorist state is trying to show that it can compensate with such strikes for the cowardice and mediocrity of its military, the failure of its attempts to avoid sanctions and economic isolation,” Zelensky said.
He stressed that for every manifestation of Russian terror there will be “an invariably tough and principled reaction”, therefore it is necessary to adopt the eighth EU sanctions package. He also reiterated the need for the States to include Russia in the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
Zelensky added that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Russian Federation has used against Ukraine more than 3800 different missilesbut none of them brings Russia closer to its goals in the war, but only leads to even greater economic degradation and even clearer historical condemnation.
