President Vladimir Zelensky stated that Russia wants to remove him from power by the end of 2023. He reported this in interview tabloid The Sun.
Russia still “really wants” to overthrow him, he said.
He noted that the operation period of the Russian special services to remove him is the end of 2023.
“The operation is called ‘Maidan 3’. It is designed to change the president. This is for now. It may not be about murder. I mean, it is changing. They will use whatever tools they have. That is the idea: by the end of the year. They even gave a name to the operation. But, you see, we can live with this,” Zelensky said.
Earlier, the head of state said that Moscow is seeking to sow division and chaos within Ukrainian society, the result of which should be the forceful removal of the president.
- American Senator Graham, during a visit to Kyiv, said that elections in Ukraine should take place in 2024, even if the war continues. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Danilov replied that Ukraine itself will decide when to hold them.
- On September 10, Zelensky said that if elections are held during the war, then Ukraine will have problems with voting by the military, observers at the front, recognition of the vote, and the expression of the will of citizens abroad and under occupation.
- On October 4, Zelensky said that “the situation is difficult,” but if the Verkhovna Rada makes the necessary changes to the legislation and security is ensured for voting participants, the elections will take place.
